Abstract

|
Basophilic leukemia is a rare disorder characterized by many mature and immature basophils in blood, marrow and other organs, The clinical course is usually brief and clinical features are similar to those of the other types of acute leukemia. Goh et all). insisted on the basophilic leukemia is a variant of chronic myelogenous leukemia(CML) because of the presence of Philadelphia chromosome in cytogenic study in most case of basophilic leukemia.
The case, presented here, 63-years-old-male, was similar to acute leukemia, and the peripheral blood and bone marrow revealed many numbers of leukemic myeloblasts acorn mpanying with many mature and immature basophils.
Chromosomal analysis demonstrated Philadelphia chromosome, although his clinical course of CML was not distinct.
So we diagnosed it as the basophilic CML and presented here with brief review of liferature.
